Compact Under Sink Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System by AO Smith
The AO Smith under-counter reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration system is designed to provide clean, healthy tap water by reducing up to 99% of 90 contaminants, including fluoride, chlorine, chloramine, lead, arsenic, pesticides, PFOA/PFOS, cysts, microplastics, and more. This advanced filtration system has been independently tested and certified to NSF standards 42, 53, 58, and 401.
The system features a dedicated chrome air gap faucet that prevents backflow into the filtration system by draining water out of the air gap hole on the side of the faucet. It is important to ensure the drain line is short, direct, and unobstructed for proper operation.
Replacing the filters is a straightforward process – simply twist out the used cartridge and replace it with a genuine AO Smith replacement filter to maintain contaminant removal. The system includes the first set of filters, RO tank, faucet, and all parts required for under-counter installation.
When installing the system, it is crucial to ensure the tubing is connected all the way. To do this, put a mark 5/8" up from the end of the tube to ensure it is inserted properly into the quick connect. It is also recommended to recheck the connections an hour after the tank is filled with water, which takes about an hour.
If water is leaking from the drain saddle, the drain tube (larger 3/8" red tubing) must be as short and straight as possible. This is a gravity-fed line, and any bends, loops, or dips in the tube will prevent the rinse water from flowing into the drain properly.
During the initial setup, the system may make some noise, such as a quiet gurgling from the air gap faucet or sputtering from air leaving the system. This is normal and should not be a cause for concern.
If the water coming out appears black, it could be due to carbon dust or fines from the new filters. This does not pose any health risks, but it is recommended to flush the system again if desired to clear the discoloration.
To ensure the filter is connected correctly, the cartridge handle should be horizontal, and the handle labeling should be right-side up.
